API testing that catches contract breaks before your clients do
Automated tests for every endpoint your product depends on: contracts, authentication, schemas, error handling and response times. Written by AI, verified by engineers, run on every pull request.
Most production incidents in modern products start at an API boundary. A field gets renamed, a status code changes from 200 to 204, a pagination cursor stops being returned. The UI still renders, the unit tests still pass, and a mobile client or partner integration quietly breaks.
QAShift generates API tests from your OpenAPI or GraphQL schema, your existing traffic and your product flows, then keeps them current as the API evolves. Tests are plain Playwright request tests committed to your repository, so they run anywhere your code runs.
What our api testing covers
Contracts and schemas
Every response is validated against the documented schema: required fields, types, enums and nullability.
Authentication and authorization
Tokens, scopes, expired sessions and role boundaries, including the requests that should be rejected.
Error handling
Malformed payloads, missing fields, rate limits and upstream failures return the right status and a useful message.
Business workflows
Multi-step flows such as create, update, pay and refund are chained so state carries through like it does for real clients.
Response time budgets
Latency assertions on critical endpoints flag regressions before they reach a performance dashboard.
Backward compatibility
Changes are diffed against the last released contract so breaking changes are caught in the pull request.
What it catches before your customers do
- A renamed field breaks the mobile app that cannot be force-updated
- An auth change lets one tenant read another tenant’s records
- A partner integration starts receiving 500s after a refactor
- Pagination silently stops at the first page
Two ways to get it done
Run it yourself
Point Verity at your API spec or base URL. It writes request tests for every endpoint, runs them in your CI and comments on pull requests when a contract changes.
We run it for you
Your QAShift engineer maps the workflows that matter, builds chained API suites with realistic test data, and triages every failure before it reaches your morning report.
What you get
- Playwright API tests in your repo
- Pull-request checks that block breaking changes
- Request and response evidence for every failure
- Bugs filed in Jira or Linear with a reproducible request
Frequently asked questions
Do you support GraphQL as well as REST?
Yes. Tests validate GraphQL queries and mutations against your schema, including errors returned inside a 200 response, which REST-style status checks miss.
Do I need an OpenAPI spec?
No. A spec speeds things up, but tests can also be generated from your product flows, recorded traffic or a list of endpoints.
Where do API tests run?
In your own CI, such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Jenkins. Runs are unlimited on every plan because they use your infrastructure.
How is this different from Postman collections?
Postman collections are usually maintained by hand and run manually. QAShift generates and maintains tests as code, runs them on every change and, on managed plans, an engineer verifies every failure.
